Bearsden Extension

Project Year: 2016

Project Cost: £150,001 – £200,000

Country: United Kingdom

A major renovation project to extend a bungalow house and to convert the loft space into bedrooms for the needs of a growing family. A successful example that can be replicated to maximise the use of the space on this typology of house.
The extension is sympathetic with the existing build and matches the external finishing materials with a more sober approach in the definition of the rear elevation. The design of the brick base add a subtle accent to underline the palette of the materials and introduces a new pattern to emphasise the change of level and the geometric scheme of the facade.
The extension comprises of a kitchen, a dining room, a utility and a master bedroom to include a walk-in wardrobe. By extending the house additional roof space adds extra room for the conversion of the loft.
A clever and strategic position of the stairs and the formation of generous size dormers enabled the formation of 2 mirrored bedrooms for the kids a smaller guest bedroom, bathroom, shower and a cupboard.
